Aesthetic Residence, Kavala

In one of Kavala's prime residential quarters, less than 300 m from the water, a four-storey residence of 300 m² faces southeast so that the Aegean light fills every room and picks out the materials it was built from. From the balconies the panoramic sea view runs uninterrupted across the bay, and because the plot in front is public land, it will stay that way.

The house is arranged over four levels served by an internal lift: four principal bedrooms, two further rooms on the ground floor for guests or work, four bathrooms and a WC fitted out as a dressing room. Skyros marble clads every main space and Spider and Ritsona marble the bathrooms. There are two Italian energy fireplaces, oil-fired central heating, top-grade insulation and window frames, electric awnings and shutters, a security system with motion sensors and a closed private parking space on the ground floor. Built in 2004, and it shows in the coherence of the choices.
